Announcement about the tragedy in Connecticut and SA connection with violence

In recent days it has been rumored that Adam Lanza, identified as the author of the slaughter at Sandy Hook Elementary School, in Newtown, Connecticut, suffered Asperger's Syndrome (AS). This has led some media associated autism with that kind of violence.

We want to clarify what happened in Newtown is an isolated incident. Therefore, the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), specifically Asperger Syndrome, has nothing to do with it. People living with the AS condition are noble, have strong moral values, with a big heart and even willing to help others.

If Mr. Lanza would have received the AS diagnosis, it's important to analyze  if he got a family and/or professional support throughout his life, if he had any other personality disorder and what kind of experiences he has lived to motivate him to run one of the worst massacres in U.S. This crime, made by cold blood, may have been planned in advance.

We, as people with the Asperger Syndrome condition, emphatically reject all kinds of links to disability-including ASD- and violence, regret and repudiate what happened at Sandy Hook and ask clarifying this situation. We join the duel which relatives of children and adults killed on Friday December 14, 2012.
